We grow these loofahs to support our local bee habitat. The gourds grow from gorgeous yellow flowers. In the fall the gourds start to dry, we peel the skin, collect the seeds and then have fabulous loofah to use all year. When your loofah gets tired, it is completely biodegradable. And the best part, they don't get smelly like a store bought sponge because they dry so quickly.
